The EDI Hazardous Substances Working Group will be reactivated after summer with the aim of publishing a monographic guide about another hazardous substance: asbestos, one of the most common substances that can be found in construction.

EDI has published a new technical guide to assist professionals in managing the risks associated with fluorinated gases (F-gases) found in insulation foams. The European Demolition Association Annual Convention is almost here. The event, in which EDI is taking part as a partner, is going to take place from June 12th to 14th in Venice, Italy. The magnificent italian city will be the scenario for numerous presentations about demolition and decontamination, as well as a huge variety of adittional activities.

The term “construction dust” refers to the variety of dust particles generated during construction work through processes like drilling, chiselling, grinding, and milling. Even though, the majority of construction dust is mineral dust, created during the extraction and processing of naturally occurring minerals, it is important to be aware of the existent types of dust.

Given that the origin and streams of hazardous substances can be very diverse, its search and characterisation procedure is already included in the current regulations for several types of hazardous substances. Despite this, it is not unified, and it is not clearly specified who should do it, nor the steps to be followed. Even though, we can establish three key steps for doing so.

The document, made by the collaboration of the two associations, aims to serve as a basis for developing training courses for the various roles involved in demolition activities.
