6/09/2015
Lead can appears in wall seals and in practice is the same as with PCBs and also in floors and in different kind of paints, mostly in industrial sites.
It can be detected in pre-demolition audits, but sometimes not.
When detected the practice depends if the site is for renovation or to demolished totally; in previous case it has to be removed but in last it again depends.
The Directive 98/24 / CE of the Council of April 7, on the protection of the health and safety of workers from the risks related to chemical agents at work, lays down minimum requirements in this area.
Directive 2000/39 / CE, the Commission states in its preamble that for each chemical for which it is established at Community level a threshold value indicative occupational exposure, member states should set a limit value for occupational exposure national, determining its nature in accordance with national law and practice.
In the Deconstruction Forum 2014, which was held in Madrid, the ex Executive Director of the National Demolition Association of the United States, NDA, Mr. Michael R. Taylor, presented a study about the risks of working with lead and its uses, potential health effects, symptoms of overexposure and its exposure limits in the USA.
