Celebrating the International Women’s Day 2025
6/03/2025
As we are approaching March 8th, EDI is celebrating International Women’s Day 2025 with our special initiative: Women’s Voices in the decontamination industry.
Throughout the centuries, women had a particular difficulty accessing certain industries. The decontamination industry was no exception. Time and time again, women had to fight just to be present in the work field; and then, to have conditions equal to their male counterparts.
Although the situation has become better in recent years, the struggle is not over. To this day, women are still underrepresented in the decontamination industry. When it’s time to share knowledge and experience in the sector, their voices are still often being silenced and ignored; and we are fighting to change that.
Therefore today, more than ever, the European Decontamination Institute, EDI, wants to focus on women’s points of view within the decontamination industry. We contacted different women working in this sector, and they shared their experiences and points of view with us.
Some of their testimonials:
“It’s tough at first, being a minority, but we are making progress, aiming for more women on construction sites”
– Tamara González, Asbestos Removal Coordinator at FLESAN.
“It is still a male dominated industry, but things are changing, and any open skillful woman can have a great career”
– Lynsey Slater, Business Developer Manager at HUSQVARNA.
…and more!
Just today is not enough
However, we don’t want our actions to end today. Therefore, if you are a woman in the decontamination industry, we encourage you to send us a video talking about your experience, which will be featured in a special section: Women’s Voices. Let your voice be heard!
This March 8th, we wish you a Happy International Women’s Day 2025. Today, and every day after that, let’s make the industry a better, more equal and accessible place together
