Discover the new guide: Fluorinated Gases in Insulation Foams

22/05/2025

EDI has published a new technical guide to assist professionals in managing the risks associated with fluorinated gases (F-gases) found in insulation foams. These gases, including CFCs, HFCs, and PFCs, were widely used in foam production until the 1990s when their harmful effects on the ozone layer and global warming were discovered.

Launched in May 2025 and born in the EDI Working Group of Hazardous Substances, the guide outlines the hazards posed by F-gases, identifies where they may be found, and provides essential information on the testing procedures required. It also offers guidance on the safe removal and treatment of contaminated foams.

This practical resource, aimed at professionals in the field, is available for free online. The full document can be accessed by filling out a simple form.
