MOBICCON-PRO: what is it about?
11/04/2024
The MOBICCON-PRO project introduces and demonstrates a systemic, circular and mobile solution in the region of Southeastern Europe (SEE) improving the recovery and recycling of construction and demolition waste.
The project combines physical solutions adapted to the ground with innovative selective separation and deconstruction technologies with a view to streamlining the recycling process. Its ambition is to scale up the production and use of recycled construction materials in the targeted SEE region. For its implementation, the project has received grant financing of 9.5 million euros under the “Horizon Europe” programme.
A cornerstone of the MOBICCON-PRO project is the deployment of a mobile pilot plant for the production of high-quality recycled construction materials and products. The mobility of the installation ensures its positioning closer to the locations where C&D waste is generated or landfilled and where considerable quantities are available for processing. The mobile plant could be compacted both at municipal and regional levels in areas where no recycling facilities are available, as well as at large infrastructure sites.
The consortium of the project encompasses 4 EU Member states- Belgium, Bulgaria, Denmark and France and 1 EU Candidate Country – Serbia.
One of the organizations, GLAVBOLGARSTROY, is an EDI member and is heavily involved in the project.
As its organization team explains:
“We strive to accelerate the transition to a high-grade C&D waste recycling and to offer to the market first-class construction materials and products from recycled content.”
Those organizations and countries interested in the project can request to join it and support the cause.
