The European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) keeps working to support companies across Europe and to protect citizens and the environment and they are continuing to develop the SCIP database.
For this reason, ECHA offers resources such as SCIP leafet and SCIP webinar.
On the one hand, SCIP is the database for information on Substances of Concern In articles as such or in complex objects (Products) established under the Waste Framework Directive (WFD).
The SCIP database ensures that the information on articles containing Candidate List substances is available throughout the whole lifecycle of products and materials, including at the waste stage.
The SCIP leaflet is available in 23 languages to make it available to waste operators and consumers.
On the other hand, SCIP webinar under the name “Introducing the SCIP database prototype” describes the state of play of the SCIP database, following the launch of its prototype in February. The presentations showed during the webinar are available in ECHA website.
The upcoming free online Safer Chemicals Conference on 2 June 2020 will also focus on tracking substances of concern in products, with presentations and demos from ECHA and case studies from industry and waste operator point of view.
