Great success of the EDI Forum 2016

The event, organized by the European Decontamination Institute, EDI, in collaboration with the National decontamination associations, was held on 10th of February, in Brussels (Belgium).

The EDI Forum 2016, under the motto “Beyond asbestos”, met several professional of this industry with the objective of working together on the future of the decontamination of hazardous waste activity.

At the Headquarters of the Belgium Confederation of Demoltion and Dismantling Works, CASO, the event had two panel sessions, one focus on “challenges and opportunities” and another one about “how to get there”.

In the frame of the first one participed Mr. Patrick Frye, technical director of CARDEM (France), Mr. Stephen Schindler, representative of the European Federation of Building and Woodworkers (Germany) and Mr. Jan Bork, manager Bork Sloopwerken (The Netherlands).

This part of the Forum had a high participation by the attendants, creating an interesting debate around this subject and sharing different perspectives and knowledge.

After a coffee break, the second panel session took place with the participation of Mr. Wouter Gevaerts, representative of ARCADIS (Belgium), Mr. Igor Kecskés-Maconkai, manager of  Rivningsentreprenad Group Skandinavien AB (Sweden) and Mr. Gunther Wolff, of the DG Environment – European Commission (Belgium).

EDI was supported in the organization of the event by the company member SMH Global, as well as DEHACO.

The EDI Forum 2016 meant the first activity of the Institute, the first step in order to bring together the related professionals to promote and protect the interests of the decontamination industry in Europe.
